“Words have set whole nations in motion…. Give me the right word and the right accent and I will move the world” – Joseph Conrad

The power of words is immense. A well-chosen word can stop a retreating army, change defeat into victory, and save an empire. Written or spoken, words are continuously propelling us through life.

In ancient wisdom it was understood that there is a resonance in ‘words’ that creates a physical manifestation in the world. In the Hebrew language, words are used to ‘create’. And there are many stories that share how ‘words’ can be used to create or destroy. In the Sanskrit language, it is seen that every vowel has a vibration that travels up into the universe and then manifests down on earth as a form. In ancient Egypt, many words were not spoken aloud as there would be a physical manifestation. Often metaphors were used instead of certain words. Aramaic is a very ancient language. The Aramaic phrase abrag ad habra is a phrase we know as abracadabra. The literal translation of abrag ad habra is “I will create as I speak”.

A word is a vibration that pulsates through every cell, every molecule of our body.
Words are a verbal expression of our thoughts. A word can be called a “Verbal thought”. It reveals what is inside you. What we believe and what we think is expressed in the form of words that we speak. Words and thoughts are thus intricately linked, a ‘word’ being the verbal manifestation of a ‘thought’.

“Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny” – Mahatma Gandhi

According to scientists, our words can affect our DNA which is not only responsible for the construction of our body but also serves as data storage and communication. The Russian linguists found that the genetic code, especially in the apparently useless 90% of DNA, follows the same rules as all our human languages do. To this end they compared the rules of syntex (the way in which words are put together to form phrases and sentences) semantics (the study of meaning in language forms) and the basic rules of grammar. Scientists say there are tunnels (Einstein-Bose Bridges) or connections between different things in the universe through which information can be transmitted outside of space and time. Our DNA attracts these bits of information and passes them on to the consciousness.

As it is important to harbour positive thoughts, so is it important to speak positive, encouraging and pleasant words. Along with changing our toxic thoughts, it is essential that we become more aware of the words we use in our daily life and know the powers that they hold.

The words that come out of your mouth have a power of their own that influences the entire world. You can change the thinking of people around you by using positive, encouraging and pleasant words.
